4.1 Conferences and Symposia
This is a representative sample of conferences and symposia that have been held over the past five years. Many are sponsored by technical societies such as the IEEE, while others are privately sponsored. Most technical libraries have access to copies of the proceedings of these conferences, and information concerning future conferences and registration can usually be found there. Many of these conferences (even some of the more theoretical and academic ones) have industry tracks, and consequently they are a good source of successful applications of tools, methodologies, and practices.
4.2 Journals
There are hundreds of journals in current publication, and many are focused on specific industries. The following list is a representative sample of journals devoted to software research, engineering applications, and specific industry issues. Journals are a good source of recent advances, successful applications, and current industry news. Many of these magazines and journals can be found in the company library.
